Lost Animals / Animal Pounds
All impounded animals are held in a Rockhampton Regional Council Pound for a minimum of 72 hours, however after this time animals may be re-homed.
If your animal is missing please contact the Pound nearest to you as soon as possible by phoning 1300 22 55 77.
If an animal is in the Pound, the owner will be required to pay a Pound Release Fee to get the animal out. In addition you may also be required to pay for the dog’s registration if it is not currently registered. All such fees are required to be paid before the release of an animal.
If you are looking for a new dog or cat, please contact your nearest Animal Pound during their opening hours.

Pet ID
If we find your pet with any type of identification chip/ tag we will make an effort to contact you. Remember to keep your pet/s’ information up to date on tags, microchips and through Council Registration (dogs only). It is also important to remember that pets do lose their tags and collars so always check with the Pound if your pet goes missing.
