Council releases Six Month Report
In keeping with its values to be open and accountable, Rockhampton Regional Council has produced a Six Month Report for the community’s inspection.
The new Regional Council has taken to the challenge of merging four separate local government bodies into one cohesive customer focussed Council, and while it is early days, the signs of a Council able to better represent the needs of a wider regional community are looking promising.
Mayor of Rockhampton Regional Council, Cr Brad Carter said the Six Month Report outlined some of the challenges faced and the successes the organisation had so far been able to achieve.
"As the first Mayor of Rockhampton Regional Council, I am proud of our region that has become one of the most livable communities in Australia, and of our new Council that has well and truly stepped up to the plate in relation to its responsibilities, already tackling some of the major issues facing the future of this region," Cr Carter said.
"The cooperation and professionalism of Council Officers is very strong particularly given the significant organisational change that has impacted on them throughout the past six months.
"Council is also experiencing very strong support from the community and business for the new Council to get on with the job.
"We have much to be proud of and I congratulate every member of our great team for their knowledge, effort and expertise over the past six months," he said.
